Joan, Character D'esign
11 September 2009
For some reason, I'm reminded of Friends.
Hey yo, today I'm going to share with you a character design I whipped up. Back in school, we had to do an animation project involving a storyline. But you know what? I am not a writer. Hell, if you've followed The BLOG, you'd know that I'm barely functionally literate. So instead, I decided to base it off of one of my favorite cancelled shows, Clone High, but with my own twist. If you haven't seen Clone High, I'd highly recommend it. It's a fun piece of show that was tragically cut short. Here, this asshole has some episodes.
Set sail for hilarity!
When it came to designing Joan 2.0, one thing I didn't want to take away was the black shirt and boots. To me, that just screams "mallgoth," but not so "far-into-the-goth-culture-that-they-become-annoying" sorta clothing. From there, the splash of red on the black hair just felt natural, with heavy eyeshadow to accent the gloomyness of the character, but big expressive eyes to show that there's a fun character underneath all that makeup. The purple jacket was to compliment the hair up top, and the green pants was to create some contrast from the black and red heavy design. Joan is a very fun character to draw, the mix of cute/girlyness and grim/bitchiness is just too fun to play around with. But enough chit-chat, go check out the show when you get the chance. It's not like you're doing anything anyway. I mean, you're here.
Welcome All!
30 August 2009
Welcome one, welcome all, to the grand opening of Art of PHN dot com! To the old fans who have re-discovered the Joy of PHN, let me welcome you to the new place. There's some new stuff in the gallery, but don't get too excited just yet. We're still settling in. For everyone who is new, let me just take a moment to lay out what we're about here: making art, having fun, and maybe learning a life lesson or two along the way.
Never Again.
So some of you may be wondering: Why the new site, PHN? What was wrong with The BLOG? Well, I've wanted my own domain for a while now, and now with school done with, I finally had time to roll up my sleeves and dig into the trenches of Internet Warfare. Plus, with my own hosting, I don't have to worry about imageshack constantly deleting the Nazi Asuka picture. Before I get off on a rant, I'd like to take the opportunity now to thank Cedric Nocon, who was a huge help in getting this site off the ground. Now there's a filipino that you can trust. Not like that stupid jerk, Phillip Ino.

Now, I also need to bring up another point: I am NOT a web designer by any means. If there was anyone who was ever grossly unqualified to be a Compyootur Scientist, it's me. So if you see any problems with the website, feel free to contact me via the new contact form, and let me know what's up (or down, as the case may warrant). Don't worry, odds are: it's not your browser. I probably just messed something up.
This is how you do it, right?
But enough pleasantries. Please update your bookmarks, and hold on tight: because the site is up and running! This is PHN, cutting the ribbon on a new chapter in Internet web browsery, letting you know that the new clubhouse is open! Excelsior!
